Started in 1960, The Nashua City Championship is an annual golf tournament featuring the areas top golfers. The original playing of the event featured the club champions from Nashua CC, Whip-Poor-Will, Amherst CC, and River Side Golf Club. After the initial competition, the event opened to more players. Early versions of the tournament were contested over four days (two weekends) with a cut after the first weekend. Local merchants sponsored the event with a large gathering of friends and competitors the night before the event kicked off.
